Beware! Facebook ‘Unfriend Alert’ app steals your password: Report

Facebook, Facebook unfriends alert app, Facebook friend list, cyber security, privacy, Facebook 'Unfriend Alert' app notifies you whenever someone removes you from their Facebook friend list.
Be careful while downloading apps as some of them may steal your data, say experts. Recently, an app, Unfriend Alert – that alerts you when someone “unfriends” you on Facebook – has been found to be collecting users’ Facebook data, Betanews.com reported.
The app is free and notifies you whenever someone removes you from the Facebook friend list. But it asks for your login credentials.
“Looking at a Wireshark log for this check however shows that the login credentials are not sent directly to Facebook but to yougotunfriended.com,” security firm MalwareBytes said.
The app also displays ads and can install malicious software on the user’s computer. What’s more worrisome is that it doesn’t show up in the apps list on Facebook. So you can easily forget that it is there and monitoring your activities.
Expert recommend removing the app and changing your password. There have been other apps in the market that alert the users when a Facebook friend ditches them, but this new app seems to be designed to steal passwords.

Microsoft Office for Tablet now on Google Play store

Back in November, Microsoft opened up early previews builds for its new mobile Office applications for Android tablets to those willing to sign up and wait for an invitation. By unifying the Office platform, Microsoft hopes to bring updates and new features to users in a timelier manner. There are still a couple of conditions attached to the preview builds though. Firstly, Office is still limited to ARM-based Android tablets with a screen size between 7 and 10.1 inches. Your tablet will also need to be running Ki...

iTunes Connect is down!

Something is wrong in Cupertino. A number of developers today turned to Twitter to complain that iTunes Connect, a hub for iOS and Mac software makers, was logging them into the wrong accounts. The service appears to be matching log-ins with the wrong accounts, showing apps and usernames from completely different people. When developers try to access one of the apps, they receive an error message leading them back to their own account. iTunes Connect has since been taken offline as Apple’s engineers presumably set off to fix the problem. We’ve contacted Apple and will update if we hear back. Culled from:  The Next Web
